the lion king

the original The Lion King was one of my favorite movies.  ever.

my son and i destroyed 2 VHS tapes of it.  yes, VHS.

and i was sooo excited when i saw the trailer for the new Lion King.

and then i realized that very few of the originals in the animated version are back to voice the new Lion King.

there is only ONE person who was in the original:  James Earl Jones.
why?
i honestly don't get it.  and Beyonce?  that alone makes me not watch to see it because i don't want to listen to her for 118 minutes.  why didn't they try to get as many of the originals back?  part of the cult following of the original are the voices.  especially Nathan Lane as Timon.  i can't imagine hearing Scar, Simba, Nala and Timon with different voices.  *sigh*  did they even try?
maybe this.  or this.  it does not escape me that out of the main cast for 2019, there are only two white people.  why?  what did The Lion King have to do with race?  hmmmmm
