i didn't realize she was born in Denver, CO and was the youngest female to ever receive a bail bondsman license.
i'm sad because i know her family is hurting right now. she was young (51). they lost their mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend.
the moral of this story is .. don't smoke! if you do, QUIT! i quit in 2011 after smoking for 25+ years.
lung cancer is one of my greatest fears.

mind boggling
i have kind of been following this story in our local news.
but re-reading the update to me sort of blew my mind today.
the bones they found have been identified as a triceratops. probably one of the coolest dinosaurs ever.
but then i was reading (and thinking). dinosaurs roamed the "earth" 66 MILLION years ago. MILLION. not 1,000 years ago .. not 10,000 years ago. 66 million years ago this triceratops was running around this parcel of land on earth which is now called Colorado. and passed away. and somehow it's bones were preserved and it took until NOW to unearth them. WHAT?
simply amazing. really.
so dang cool.

a child drowning is ALWAYS preventable. always.
if your toddler is in the bathtub, you should be sitting in there with him/her.
if you have a pool or hot tub in your back yard there should be locked fences around them.
this child was three. there should be eyes on him every minute he's awake. toddlers explore. toddlers are curious. they can get into dangerous things.

this Dad is doing the exact right thing in talking with his son. having worked in a Head Start program and in Early Head Start (for infants), having conversations with your toddlers like this is essential to help them expand their vocabulary! kids this age can have vocabularies up to 30,000 words!!
talk to your kids endlessly. while you're getting them dressed. changing diapers. tell them every step of what you are doing. feeding time. play time.

i am very schooled in Christianity.
#1 - Thou Shalt Have No Other gods before me. - so those crazy catholics pray to the Pope. exhault him. praise him.
#2 - Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them .... yea, so um, this Pope thing? so if there really IS a god, and there is a judgment day, y'all catholics are going to be in for a very rude awakening.
#3 - I am the way, the truth and the light. No one comes to the father except through me. yea, so that means you should pray to no other entity. just Jesus. but y'all pray to the Pope (and the Virgin Mary) (and the Saints). so how come? when it's clearly said not to?
because in the Catholic religion people are following what a MAN said to do. some man, somewhere back in time said this is what you're supposed to do.
and what about confession? the bible talks about confessing your sins to God in prayer and asking for forgiveness. WHO decided that a priest should be the one to hear your confession and THEN dole out punishment??? interesting excerpt i just read:
